Quick Cake

This is a cake I made about a month ago for my mom and I just iced the cake with coffee flavored icing and added pecans, in the center the cake had more icing with bananas and pecans.

Red Velvet Cake Results

Although I did not take any pictures of the red velvet cake I made, I did manage to take a picture with my phone. As you can see my RED velvet cake did not end up so red, although the batter looked pretty red to me, once I took it out of the oven it was brown as if it were chocolate—and many people also asked me if it was chocolate cake. I also did not have enough pink fondant to completely decorate my cake or add any extra decorations. But I did make two small 6 inch cakes and stacked them on top of each other to make one tier. I also filled the cake with vanilla icing although I added coffee to give it a coffee mocha flavor; between the two cakes I added pieces of walnuts instead of fruit. I only brought a couple of slices of cake to school and for the most part, people said they liked it.

Marble Cake

My next baking project will be on a marble cake, I found the recipe  online and I chose it because it is supposed to be very moist, although I might make double the ingredients because instead of making a 9 inch loaf cake, I am going to make 24 cupcakes or more.

Valentine Cake Ideas

These are some of the cake ideas I would like to try.

I would really like to try to make fondant roses that you roll up and I have also found a website that teaches me how to make them and it seems very easy and exciting. I would also like to attempt to make a bow on the cake like the one in the upper left corner. I plan on having the cake done by valentine’s day which is a week from now.

Red Velvet Cake

Red Velvet Cake

My next project will be to make, or attempt to make, red velvet cake. The recipe is also quite simple and it does not require too much work. The cake recipe says that if you follow the exact recipe the cake should come out moist and very good. I don’t have all the ingredients, such as buttermilk, which I probably will have to go out and purchase. I plan on making two small cakes and stacking them on top of each other, to make one teir. I will post my results after.
